Can Drinking Soda Lower My Sperm Count?
I heard that certain sodas, like Mountain Dew, can reduce sperm count — is there any truth to this?
– Rex*
No scientific proof exists that Mountain Dew — or any other soda, for that matter — has any effect on sperm count. These rumors have been around for years.
Many people have heard this urban legend, but it doesn't mean Mountain Dew can be used as some kind of male birth control. Drinking a lot of Mountain Dew will only give you too much caffeine, a huge intake of empty calories, and lots of urine.
If you're going to have sex of any kind, always remember to use a condom to prevent STDs and pregnancy. Nothing helps reduce the number of sperm escaping as well as a good rubber.
