I'm a freshman in high school, and I'm really hitting it off with a junior. He's so sweet, but I've heard rumors that upperclassmen are just trying to get in your pants. What's the deal with dating upperclassmen?

Although a 2-year difference in age may not be that big of a gap later on in life (a lot of married couples are that far apart or more), it can be a huge difference in high school. It's no fault of yours, but there is a chance that an older guy might simply want a more physical relationship than you do.

Just because your friend is 2 years older, though, doesn't necessarily mean he is trying to get in your pants. But if he seems to be, you can explain to him that you aren't looking to move at lightning speed in your relationship with him. If he truly is the understanding and sweet guy you hope he is, he will understand. You never know, those extra 2 years might mean he's mature enough to understand and respect your honesty.
